Planning a wedding is a lot of work and can quickly become overwhelming. The venue, the dress, the guest list, the food, the music, and even the flowers. How do you decide what kind of flowers to use for your big day? Real or faux? Both have some benefits differing from one another, but really it’s up to you and your partner to decide which is best for you. Here’s some things to keep in mind to help you decide:
Cost & Quality
The cost of real flowers and fake flowers differ greatly depending on the quality of the fake florals. Regardless though, fake flowers are oftentimes significantly cheaper than purchasing real flowers. The only problem with this, can be the quality. You can find some really great quality fake flowers that look real, but to get them at a reasonably cheaper cost, you will have to do a LOT of research and comparisons. Or you can get cheap flowers without all the research, but they may look very clearly fake. Real flowers on the other hand, though are more expensive, are definitely real and will look and smell amazing. So depending on if you have time to look around to save money, or if you don’t mind shoveling out money for the real thing, is up to you.
Availability, Style, & Longevity
Something else to consider is the availability, styling, and longevity of the flowers. As far as availability goes, real flowers will depend on what is in season and what they can get shipped in. What they can get a hold of, is what you have to work with. If you are looking for a very specific flower color and type, it may be best to buy it fake. As you can buy any flower color or type in a fake flower. Along the same lines, you can find any style or type of flower online or in stores that are fake. Real ones may be harder or more expensive to locate and buy. Now with longevity, that can mean a few different things. Obviously fake flowers can last forever. Even if you don’t want them post event, you can easily sell them off for profit. With real flowers, they don’t last more than maybe a week at most. However, there are people who do floral preservation. If you are looking for a long lasting flower arrangement after your real flowers are done, that could be an option rather than tossing them. Keeping in mind it’s definitely an added cost, but to you and your partner, it could be worth saving the memories.
Overall, whether you decide on real or faux flowers, is up to you and your partner and what fits best with not only your wedding plans, but also your budget. Still keeping in mind cost and quality. As well as availability, the style of flower you want, and the longevity of them. Figuring out which of these aspects are most important to you can determine which type of florals you decide to go with.
