Though the year is 2024, ever since Covid, more and more couples have been opting for smaller and more intimate weddings and gatherings. Inviting only those closest to them for the celebration. To not only lower costs to save money to spend elsewhere, but also to keep it more personable.
But sometimes those couples fall in love with a venue and it’s huge! Their guest count may only be 50 guests, but the space can fit up to 300. In the case that this happens, there are ways to still make the space feel intimate. It just requires some creativity and beautiful décor. If the ceilings are too tall and it feels like it’s too vast, a great fix for this is to add drapery or other hanging pieces from the ceiling. It will make the ceiling feel lower and thereby create a more intimate feel to the space.
Splitting the venue up into different “spaces” can also easily create a more intimate look and allow it to feel smaller. Perhaps having all the dining tables in one section, and creating a couple different soft seating lounge options around the room as well. You can even add a corner photobooth area to break it up even more! It will feel purposeful and not too large.
Being purposeful with your decorations and set up arrangement is one of the most important aspects of making sure the space feels cozy and exactly as the couple imagined. This can be done by utilizing both round and rectangular tables to take up more room, or using tall table centerpieces to bring the ceiling height down, or even adding dark colors and candles to get a more intimate feeling throughout the venue.
All in all, there are many ways to change your dream venue into the perfect space for your more intimate and small wedding. The size of the space doesn’t matter as long as you use your resources and be purposeful with what you do and how you decorate.
